The formal inspiration for the '(Im)perfect Flatbeads' derived from a stereotypical pearl necklace in a two-dimensional, flexible surface.
These necklaces were born from a combination of natural animal hides and digital laser cutting. Laser cutting is a technique constantly delivering identical items. However, the combination with the natural irregularity of an animal hide gave unexpected outcomes resulting in unique pieces.
From this result, the idea arose to manipulate even more the uniqueness of an object within a reproducible process together with natural materials, forming the basis for the project: HUNACTURING.
